Job Purpose and Reporting Structure

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Publishing, Interactive, the Online Content Director is responsible for developing, maintaining and growing the news/editorial content, interactive services and features, producing the highest quality web sites, portals and content-driven e-products at maximum cost efficiency.


Job Responsibilities

• Develop an overall content and online feature plan for existing and new Cygnus online properties and products; Calendar, budget and monitor editorial and online content accordingly.
• Work with the Interactive team, Trade Publication and Trade Show/Conference Divisions to develop content opportunities that leverage our ability to drive traffic back and forth between all media properties (Print, Expo and Interactive).
• Work with design team to produce quality electronic content and features.
• Deploy and maintain multiple incoming wire and related news feeds; Ensure content meets style and market need/demand.
• Research content and features for online production and publication.
• Interface with industry contacts and customers; Will include travel to industry events such as conferences and trade show.
• Develop sites, portals and products as an industry presence. Professionally represent the company in the appropriate associations, societies and groups.
• Coordinate the work of site and portal editors, content teams and third-parties.
• Respond to internal/external questions and requests for information.
• Assist in professional development and growth of content team.
• Review financial statements for accuracy and variance, and manage editorial costs to the revenue stream.
• Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.


Job Requirements

• Requires education generally equivalent to four years of college with coursework in journalism or English, five years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced environment.
• Background in B2B Media a plus.
• Professional experience of at least (3) years managing online or targeted media content and publishing teams.
• Excellent knowledge of the Internet as it relates to content working in conjunction with sales and technology.
• General knowledge of deployment and development of content, services and features on the Internet.
